Logging onto Computers in the Microscopy Facility

Each user must have their own account and password on the MHMICROSCOPY domain. 

• To log on 3 entries must be correctly entered:
  • Domain                                            must be MHMICROSCOPY - (not local computer name)
  • Username                                         your account name (case is ignored) - \ slash direction is important
  • Password                                         your account password (case is important - expires every 90 days)

• Note: The direction of the backslash must be correct.
  • Passwords must meet complexity rules - i.e. contain: uppercase, lowercase, number, symbol, be at least 10 characters
  • Passwords are good for 90 days, and then must be reset.  Contact Michael if you want to know the expiration date.
  • Can be changed even if it is expired! See: http://microscopy.unc.edu/password
  • Can not be read or recovered.  But can be changed/reset: Contact Michael 265-9380 text/voice (after hours OK)

Web Based Resource Booking

• Booking IDs number (4 digits) and your log on name allow reservation or cancellation of booked time on a resource.
• Note:
  • Booking IDs do not expire!
