- Feb 18: Zeiss 510 Meta confocal computer has been replaced.
This means that:
- The new computer does not have:
- LSM 510 users profiles, i.e. filter settings, microscope
macros, etc. Many boxes will be grayed.
- Confocal image database files saved on the old computer.
- Drive letter maps, e.g. M: for \\Minsky\Users2
or \\Minsky\yourPI-lab or etc.
- Restore:
- User profiles by
logging into \\Gauss (old \\Hertz
has just been renamed to \\Gauss and moved to the cart near the
window) and waiting
until "@echo Profiles exported!!!" appears in the Command
Prompt box, then on \\Hertz exit AIM 510 software, if it is
running, and double clicking the "RunThisOnce Personal Profiles"
icon on the desktop. Now the Zeiss LSM 510 software should contain the
profiles, filters, multitracks, macros, etc.
- Old files/image databases from the original computer.
Old files are currently on
\\Gauss\Users & \\Gauss\Users2 (Old \\Hertz).
It's not essential to transfer them, but they are there.
Can be copied over if you wish.
- Drive letter maps, if any,
by browsing to the server, right clicking on the shared resource
and choosing "Map Drive". E.g. see:
http://microscopy.unc.edu/Resources/Minsky/MappingToShares.html
or ask Neal or Michael for assistance.
- Changed:
- New drive E: for data & image storage
- The old shares have been preserved and map to the
same drives for backward compatibility:
- D: drive = \\Hertz\Users
- F: drive = \\Hertz\Users2
- New & changed network shares:
- D: drive = \\Hertz\Users1 (Synonymous
with \\Hertz\Users - not a copy!)
- E: drive = \\Hertz\Users3 (New. Did not
formerly exist)
- New
- Remote desktop access. Check in on time
lapse experiments remotely. Save finished time lapse scans.
Turn off laser(s) remotely. Can be setup only by
arrangement with Michael.
- Please ask Michael or
Neal for assistance
